Girkin who is the former colonel of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) is
a good friend of the Orthodox oligarch Konstantin Malofeev and
his close associate, a Belgian holder of Russian passport Pierre Louvrier
who turned out to be a stooge of fugitive banker Tsvetan Vassilev. The charges were filed on 19 June at a press conference of the International Investigative Group (IIG) which comprises detectives from the Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia, Belgium and Ukraine. In their opinion, the plane carrying 298 people was downed with Buk missile launcher, registered at the 53rd Kursk brigade of the Russian armed forces (aircraft defence). The missile system was provided by the Russian armed forces and was used for shooting down the plane over the region under control of the pro-Russian separatists, the investigative team said to the reporters.
According to the investigators, the people involved in downing of the Boeing, flight No MH17 from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, are Igor Girkin (aka Strelkov), defence minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic (DNR), Sergey Dubinski, reserve officer of the Russian Military Intelligence (GRU), Oleg Pulatov, reserve lieutenant colonel of the Russian airborne forces and Ukrainian citizen Leonid Kharchenko, commander of the reconnaissance group of GRU in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The International Investigative Group (IIG) believes that Dubinski, Pulatov and Girkin are living in Russia now, while Kharchenko resides in Eastern Ukraine which is beyond the control of the Kiev government. The four of them are on the international wanted list. The case will be submitted to the Netherlands court by end-year. The suit is to be launched in 2020. The reps of the IIG said at a press conference in Holland that they will not turn to the Russian authorities with a request to extradite the suspects because they understand that the Constitution of the Russian Federation does not allow extradition of Russian citizens to other countries.
The mother of one of the 298 victims who perished in the blasted Boeing-777 said that
the four will be the defendants in the suit that will start on 9 March 2020,

A mother whose son and his girlfriend were killed in this horrible air accident said she felt relieved knowing that five years after the tragic date, 17 July 2014 someone will be held accountable. She further said that she doesn’t expect that any of the accused will be present in the courtroom.
One of the people whom the Dutch prosecution named as a culprit for shooting down the flight of the Malaysian Aircrafts denied that the Ukrainian separatist were to blame for it, AP and AFP reported. Russian citizen Igor Girkin, commander of the insurgents whom the investigators named as the main suspect said before AP, “All that I can say is that the Boeing was not shot down by the insurgents.” The ex-commander pointed out that he was not called as witness by the international investigation. Known by his combat nickname “Strelkov” Girkin is a former colonel of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) who volunteered to join the pro-Russian rebellion in Eastern Ukraine in 2014. He held the post of a defence minister of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic when the Malaysian Airways Boeing-777 was shot down over Ukraine in July of 2014. Girkin tabled his resignation in August 2014 under unknown circumstances and later returned to Russia where he appeared to be a spent force and faced financial difficulties.
