“Oligarchs of the world, unite!” is the slogan under which the past seven days in Bulgaria went by. Indicted “businessmen” in the country and fugitive individuals holed up abroad rolled up their sleeves and got down to attacking their sworn enemy – lawmaker of the opposition party Movement for Rights and Freedoms and Telegraph Media publisher Delyan Peevski – seemingly trying to squeeze an entire five-year plan of fake news into a week.
Fake News Factory’s motto: not a day without a lie about Peevski
Not a day without a lie about Peevski. This is the motto of the Fake News Factory founded by the satellite media of oligarchs Ivo Prokopiev, Tsvetan Vassilev, Ognyan Donev and Sasho Donchev. Over the span of the last seven days, this manipulation machine has published or copy-pasted eight fake news concerning lawmaker and publisher of Telegraph Media, a tag-up with Google shows.
Apparently, March madness is widespread and it has affected even the pen-pushers who generate fake news in Bulgaria.
Atanas Chobanov’s wife comes from a family of Russian propagandists
The socialists know best, especially those with close ties with the Kremlin. “Socialism is like AIDS – it is a disease transmitted sexually or hereditary,” this outrageous remark made by the even more scandalous leftwing lawmaker Anton Kutev is a fitting description of the close ties of the Russian propaganda in which the so-called chief editor of the website Bivol Atanas Chobanov, his spouse Maria Onuchko, her father Victor Onuchko and the “Orthodox oligarch” Konstantin Malofeev find themselves entangled.
The past week was marked by frenetic activity in the publications owned or financed by oligarch-publishers (and criminal defendants) Ivo Prokopiev, Ognyan Donev and Tsvetan Vassilev who joined efforts against the eternal foe of the backstage power brokers, namely the MP and publisher of the Telegraph Media, Delyan Peevski.
It is common knowledge that repetition is the mother of learning. According to Goebbels, repetition is the mother of propaganda. As regards the oligarchic media in Bulgaria, repetition is not just propaganda. It means lies stored in archives of files whose content are the talking points which are taken out of mothballs every time when the previous one becomes too worn-out.
The indicted oligarch Ivo Prokopiev who has left a mark in the history of the Transition period in Bulgaria with one of the most maleficent privatisation deals – that for Kaolin mining company, managed to lug in his manipulations even the US State Department.
Indicted oligarch Ivo Prokopiev tried to conceal the EVN case, which the court started hearing on Thursday, with a campaign of fake news. The shady businessman from Razgrad is being tried for the sale of the state’s remaining stake in the electricity distribution company alongside two former ministers – Simeon Djankov and Traycho Traykov.
If we have to choose a key word for the last week it will be the “apartment”. So far the scandal about the apartments provided by Artex Company bought much under their market price have precipitated two audits – one by the Prosecutor’s Office and the other, by the ACCIAF (Anti-Corruption Commission). These scandals also resulted in two resignations: first of the justice minister Tsetska Tsacheva and second, of the deputy minister of sports Vanya Koleva.
Iliyan Vassilev attributes non-existent Russian ties to the lawmaker
In a conspiracy-laden article, otherwise labeled as an analysis, Iliyan Vassilev – a former agent of the First Main Directorate of the State Security, who operated under the aliases Sasho and Dragan, and now a mouthpiece for the oligarchy and prominent defender of the fugitive banker Tsvetan Vassilev – makes up outrageous fabrications about Peevski.
